Marketing Teardown: 🎙️Podcast Guest Launch
The medium is podcasts The talent is...your executive team?
Hey, marketer!
Imagine this:
The year is 1974.
You’re a young business leader who just moved to New York to launch your next business venture.
You’re desperately standing by your telephone (yeah, plugged into the wall).
Then the phone rings and on the other end is…your agent with news that she got you an interview slot on a popular late night TV show. Score!
Well, that was 50 years ago and attention is just as valuable, but it’s not on TV for a broad audience – it’s on podcasts, for a niche audience.
Of course, this is 2024, so this booking service is less agency and more automation.
Today’s issue is special because I’m tearing down a tool for marketers (and it happens to be super young with lots of promise).

Who is Podcast Guest Launch?
Quick stats:
Podcast Guest Launch is a software product that helps you, or your exec team, get booked on popular shows without doing all the hard work yourself.
Like in my intro analogy, this sort of thing was done by agents – but for business executives, making media appearances isn’t high on their priority list, and the juice for marketers to take this on was not worth the squeeze.
But, podcasts are for the 2020s what blogs were for the 2010s.
Getting to spread the gospel of your company’s mission is great, but podcasts also provide a backlink and that sweet, sweet SEO juice.
So, Podcast Guest Launch automates the podcast booking process. Instead of spending hours emailing podcast hosts, they handle it for you. They’ve got systems for reaching out through LinkedIn and email to get you booked quickly and easily.
Once you’re on a podcast, you can then take your appearance and turn it into all kinds of content, like short clips, blog posts, and even ads. These help your brand look like the industry leader, get more followers, better SEO, and more sales.
It’s basically the modern outreach tool for growing your brand’s online presence.
Podcast Guest Launch’s Target Audience
Showing up in more places, especially all at once like a Thunderclap, can drive market perception.
B2B businesses especially see podcasts as a way to show they’re experts and gain trust from potential customers. Even if a podcast gets 5,000 to 10,000 downloads, it could lead to just one really good customer, and for them, that’s worth it.
Podcast Guest Launch’s Branding
First, their branding is on point – sure, not exciting, but remember one of their target demos is B2B.
They use the color purple to associate with podcasts (like the Apple Podcast app color).
Their website is super simple, too, so you can quickly see the value and book a meeting without getting distracted – it’s effectively just a landing page.
Here’s where the gem is: their primary messaging.
The h1 on their website asks the question: “Where do you want to be famous?”
Fame today is no longer monolithic. One can be internet famous, internet conference famous, or even internet conference about cybersecurity famous.
The level of niching down is truly unending.
I’ll be the first to say that I don’t typically like using rhetorical questions in the h1 – because they often simply state “wouldn’t life be better with X?” they’re too abstract. Too open to interpretation.
But Podcast Guest Launch’s h1 actually gets me to imagine myself in a better future (a key aspect of the Hero’s Journey) and implies that they are the tool to use to get there.
Podcast Guest Launch’s Marketing Opportunities
They set up folks with podcast spots and have very public results – audio or video of their clients getting interviewed!
So, they can take those videos, run them through a tool like Opus Clip and create ads out of their clients’ best podcast moments. Layer over those clips with a voiceover (as seen on TikTok), and that’s ad creative right there.
Buuuut don’t stop there – even though the landing page is simple, they have access to a plethora of video, so why aren’t there video examples on the home page? Add some clips and captions that include the results (like number of podcast placements, audience size, or even sales brought in).
Let’s sprinkle in some product-led growth here – one of the difficult aspects of being in this “agent” role is that you’re behind the scenes between the talent on both ends.
However, Podcast Guest Launch is constantly developing relationships with podcasters and while those creators want interview guests, they also want to get paid. So, Podcast Guest Launch can pay the creators for working with their clients (a cycle that keeps relationships going) while adding a shoutout on the podcast and backlink.
And when they want to level up, I think a rebrand is in order.
Podcast Guest Launch is so pragmatic – boring.
But they really have an opportunity to connect their customers with a megaphone for their target audience. It’s ripe for opportunity to have a memorable name – which will help them be recognized as a tool, not an agency, and expand into complementary services.
Wrap Up
Podcast Guest Launch is an awesome tool for anyone who wants to grow their audience and get their name out there.
It’s easy to use, does a lot more than just booking podcasts, and helps you make the most out of every appearance in today’s content medium of choice.
